Name Changes, New Dining & Shopping Updates for 2019

Six Flags Fiesta Texas has been quite busy in the early stages of 2019. Pirates of the Deep Sea, an all-new dark ride experience, opened last month and the park is now operating year-round. Still slated for a 2019 debut is The Joker, a Zamperla Giga Discovery, which will be the tallest ride of its kind in the world. Also set to debut this year is the addition of the DC Universe park area. This new area will engulf sections of the existing Spassburg and Rockville themed lands.

A New Name for The Joker

We reported at the end of January that it appears The Joker will debut with a new name. When announced, the attraction was to be called The Joker Wild Card. The logo had been altered to indicate that the new ride would be called The Joker. However, new clues say otherwise.

Fiesta Texas remains strong on social media, posting teasers of many changes happening during 2019. One tease indicates that The Joker will have a new name.

The Joker: C… is all that can be seen in the teaser.

KENS5, a local San Antonio news station, has also “leaked” an anticipated new name for The Joker Wild Card, naming it The Joker Carnival of Chaos. This new name lines up with the teaser presented by Fiesta Texas. It would also fit well in that area of the park as it is full of midway and skill games. Fiesta Texas has not made an official announcement at the time of this news post.

We’ve posted a couple of construction updates regarding Whirligig over the past couple of months. The park initially announced last summer that the attraction would be renamed Crime Wave to fit in with the new DC Universe park area. However, last month, Fiesta Texas announced that the attraction would take on a new name instead. Only this teaser, shared by Fiesta Texas, has been brought to light. It appears that the attraction will be named after either Super Boy or Super Girl, two DC Comics characters.

New In-Park Shopping Options

Spitze’s Sweets has been gutted in preparation for the addition of Coaster Candy.

Spitze’s Sweets has been gutted in preparation for the addition of Coaster Candy.

Coaster Candy, an updated concept of candy stores coming to various Six Flags parks, was announced by Fiesta Texas for the 2018 season. The project never launched, leaving Spitze’s Sweets in Spassburg untouched. The park has confirmed that Coaster Candy will be opening in 2019 and seen here is a look at the new shop’s progress from our most recent construction update.

Boardwalk Treasures will be taking over the former location of the Jelly Belly shop on Fiesta Bay Boardwalk. This information was also presented in a teaser posted by Fiesta Texas. While most details of the new shop are unknown, we can confirm that a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine will be available for souvenir bottle refills. The new shop will likely feature apparel and souvenirs of the new Pirates of the Deep Sea attraction that is located nearby.

Announced earlier this year was the addition of Chop Six. This new dining location will feature Asian cuisine and is taking over the former Panda Express location in the park’s Crackaxle Canyon area. A name change will also be coming to a food stand in Spassburg (soon to be in the DC Universe). All-American Nachos, located near the entrance of Superman Krypton Coaster, will now be known as Aztek Nachos. This is likely a nod to the Aztek character found in the DC Universe. The name is fitting as it will be a part of the new DC Universe park area.
